The Nissan Ariya will be given access to the Tesla Supercharger network next year.
Nissan is the latest to jump on Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) bandwagon, confirming that from next year, the Ariya will be sold with a CCS-to-NACS adaptor and that from 2025, the Ariya will feature an NACS port. This makes Nissan the first Japanese carmaker to adopt the American EV maker's charging technology starting next year.
Ford and General Motors are among the brands lined up to use the NACS connector. Mercedes-Benz joined the fray, making it the first German carmaker to adopt the charging technology. All these brands help boost Tesla CEO Elon Musk's hope for NACS to become the gold standard.
All new Nissan EV models in North America and Canada will come with a NACS port from 2025.

It is still unclear which EV models Nissan is referring to. However, the automaker did reveal earlier this year its revised Nissan Ambition 2030 plan, which targets to release 27 electrified models, including 19 EVs, by 2030. That plan was a global one, so not all 19 BEVs will arrive in the US.
Other Japanese carmakers remain mum about whether they will adopt Tesla's charging technology. Honda said it is focused instead on providing the best EV ownership to its customers. Meanwhile, Toyota said it has nothing to announce at this time.

As for Nissan, the brand is targeting more than 40 percent of its US sales to be fully electric by 2030. This is said to include two all-new EVs to be assembled at the Nissan plant in Canton, Mississippi sometime in 2025, one of which is expected to be a crossover that may adopt the Skyline name.
“Adopting the NACS standard underlines Nissan's commitment to making electric mobility even more accessible as we follow our Ambition 2030 long-term vision of greater electrification,” said Jeremie Papin, chairperson of Nissan Americas.
“We are happy to provide access to thousands more fast chargers for Nissan EV drivers, adding confidence and convenience when planning long-distance journeys.”
