Watt Electric Vehicles, a new low-volume EV manufacturer, has been created in the UK, bringing together three established automotive businesses under one roof. It combines the Watt Electric Vehicle Company (WEVC), vehicle R&D and motorsport experts JSC Automotive Limited (JSC) and vehicle structures experts, Stalcom Automotive Technologies (Stalcom).
Watt Electric Vehicles will design, engineer and sell next-generation specialist EVs, enabling the future of low-to-medium volume electric vehicle production, both in the UK and globally.
Across two UK sites located in the Midlands and Cornwall, Watt Electric Vehicles will manufacture a range of low-volume commercial and passenger electric vehicles.
It will also offer production, development, engineering and design services to third-parties and OEMs, enabling them to create almost any low-volume EV they require to suit their business needs.
Watt Electric Vehicles’ mobility solutions are based upon a low-weight, flexible and scalable cell to chassis e-platform. Known as PACES – Passenger And Commercial EV Skateboard – the proprietary technology features bespoke aluminium lightweight extrusions and ultra-precise laser-cut and CNC-folded pieces.
Paul Faithfull, former Director and Founder of Potenza Technology has been named as CEO of Watt Electric Vehicles.
Bob Mustard, founder of Stalcom, becomes CTO.
Paul Faithfull, Founder and CEO of Watt Electric Vehicles, says: “It is often said that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. And we firmly believe that by combining Watt Electric Vehicle Company, JSC Automotive and Stalcom to form Watt Electric Vehicles, we have created an extraordinary organisation with the ability to lead the niche EV sector with our proprietary, versatile, and scalable, PACES platform technology. In addition, the three former companies that constitute Watt Electric Vehicles enjoy a strong track record of shared collaboration, which makes for seamless integration of resources, skillsets, and operational strategies.”
Bob Mustard, Founder and CTO of Watt Electric Vehicles, adds: “As well as designing, developing and manufacturing outstanding low-volume electric commercial and passenger vehicles in the UK, Watt Electric Vehicles will form strategic alliances with overseas organisations over the coming months and years, further growing its network and influence. Within this new company lies a huge amount of practical, real-world EV development and manufacturing experience. Collectively we have already delivered multiple vehicle programmes to market – and we will deliver many more next-gen EVs in short order. The potential of Watt Electric Vehicles is enormous.”
Watt Electric Vehicles‘ new manufacturing facility in the West Midlands will be home to its light commercial EV range. The first prototype vehicle has been built and is in testing, and will be unveiled in Q3 2022, with production set to begin in 2024.
