Tesla has updated the Model 3 with new features, an increased range, and aesthetic improvements after six years and impressive sales totalling two million units worldwide. The upgraded Model 3 is expected to rank among the most eagerly anticipated electric automobiles of the year.
The modified Model 3 has a more sculpted exterior with new front and back portions as well as an improved interior. It is also known internally as Project Highland. Tesla has disclosed aerodynamic improvements which it says would increase range while reducing wind noise and drag.
With leaner lines, revamped headlight housing, new distinctive LED daytime running lights, and a more defined front end, the car now has a more angular and defined appearance. The once-subtle depression along the edge of the hood, which used to taper beneath the headlamps, has been noticeably intensified and lengthened, now extending all the way to the fenders.
The overall shape remains unchanged, while the rear of the car showcases prominent wraparound C-shaped taillights, with the Tesla name now spelled out between these lights, taking the place of the logo. A fresh multi-spoke wheel design has also been introduced. The lineup will include two new color options, namely Ultra Red and Stealth Gray.
The car has a weight of 1,765kg, a width of 2,089mm, a height of 1,441mm, and a length of 4,720mm. For comparison, the Model Y has a width of 1,920mm, a height of 1,623mm and a length of 4,750mm.
On the WLTP cycle, the RWD Model 3 will travel approximately 513km with the optional 19-inch “Nova” wheels, while the Long Range (LR) version is certified for approximately 629km. The 0-100km/h times for the RWD model and the LR all-wheel-drive come in at 6.1 seconds and 4.4 seconds, respectively.
The Model 3’s interior has been redesigned to have a cosier, lounge-like feel. It features a wraparound design with a “enveloping architecture,” combining materials made of cloth and aluminium. The new ambient lighting has been installed throughout the cabin. According to Tesla, the cabin is now quieter as a result of improvements to the acoustic glass and enhanced soundproofing materials.
There is a larger digital layout within. Although the bezels on the 15.4-inch centre screen have been made thinner, the screen’s useful area has remained the same. In addition, a brand-new 8.0-inch rear display with integrated climate, ventilation, and infotainment controls has been unveiled.
Customers who purchase the LR model will enjoy an improved audio experience thanks to 17 speakers, an increase of three over the previous configuration, including two subwoofers and two amplifiers. Nine speakers, one subwoofer, and one amplifier will be included in the RWD model. There is also an improved microphone for better call quality.
The Malaysian pricing for the new Tesla Model 3 Facelift, has been unveiled on the company’s official website. The Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive is priced at RM189,000 and the Long Range Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive variant is priced at RM218,000.
According to the website, estimated deliveries are slated for late 2023, with a non-refundable order fee of RM1,000.
