MG is taking the electric car business serious and the company has launched a new teaser of their upcoming electric car. According to sources, the Chinese-owned British brand is likely to strengthen its electric car portfolio in the coming year in anticipation of high demand for EVs in future.
In their latest video, the company has teased their upcoming electric car and it could be a crossover model like the MG ZS EV. Moreover, in the caption, MG says that the electric car has been developed as per the requirements of consumers in the United Kingdom.
From the teaser, the partially revealed MG electric car is finished in Orange colour and appears to be a crossover SUV. Moreover, the electric vehicle also features a high bonnet line and strong shoulder lines.
Apart from that, the upcoming MG electric vehicle also sports very stylish looking full-width LED taillamps that are spilt in the middle to make space for the MG logo. Also, the LED taillamps and the rear logo are surrounded by a glossy black element.
Also, like many modern cars, the upcoming MG electric vehicle seems to have plenty of faux air vents on the exterior. One prime example of this would be the faux vents under the rear taillamps.
To make the upcoming MG Crossover SUV look a bit more rugged, designers at MG have given the electric car black plastic cladding on door sills and big wheel arches. These large wheel arches are neatly filled by what appears to be 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
To make the upcoming electric crossover SUV a bit more attractive, MG has given the car a sloping roofline and gloss black finish on the ORVMs. This enhances the sporty feel of the upcoming electric MG crossover SUV.
Apart from that, the glossy black ORVMs also sport cameras which hints at the inclusion of a 360-degree camera system. This system will come in pretty handy during parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces.
Expect the new MG electric vehicle to be around the same size as other 5-seater mid-size SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and MG Astor.
We expect this car to have a battery pack anywhere between 60kWh to 70kWh and come with a single-motor setup with approximately 150bhp to 170bhp. This will give the upcoming electric vehicle with a practical range close to 400kms per full charge, which is more than enough charge to travel from London to Manchester.
At present in India, we are expecting to see the upcoming facelifted version of the MG ZS EV and according to sources, the new 2022 MG ZS EV will get a larger 51kWh battery pack instead of the 44.5kWh battery pack that powers the outgoing model.
This means the upcoming MG ZS EV with its uprated battery pack will come with a revised range of 419 kms on a single charge instead of just 340kms on a single charge.
Thoughts About MG’s Upcoming EV
MG has been keen on developing electric cars and the company is showing a lot of commitment to building electric cars by showcasing newer electric car models at regular intervals. We expect the upcoming MG electric car to further boost the Chinese-owned British brand’s presence in the EV segment.
