In Europe we are very lucky in that us enthusiasts enjoy a huge range of cars. We receive almost every derivative of every model, something that can’t be said for markets like America. However, there are some situations where, just like spoilt children, we cry ‘why don’t we get one of those!’ This time the source of our anguish is the new Toyota Supra Horizon Blue Edition.
The Toyota Supra has been a welcome addition to the UK’s automotive landscape, proving to be a great car for those seeking a handsome looking coupe with handling to match. Even the recently adopted entry-level 2.0-litre, four-cylinder car has been greeted with excitement elsewhere in Europe. However, the new Supra Horizon Blue Editions, a Japan only special edition, that’s unlikely to cross the sea to us.
Finished in an eye-catch blue hue that might just be the best colour for a Supra, the coupe looks slick on a set of matte black 19-inch alloy wheels. The interior also receives Alcantara and leather seats complete with contrasting blue stitching. It’s a great specification that we yearn for in Europe.
Something else that seems a little unfair is a host of mechanical updates. 2021 model year cars are to receive a power bump from 335bhp to 382bhp, but this boost in performance and additional revisions to the chassis has yet to be announced for Europe. The added grunt drops the 0-62 sprint time from 4.1 seconds to 3.9 second for the 3.0-litre car.
The Japan-only Toyota Supra Horizon Blue Edition will be limited to just 100 units, but if you want something even more exclusive, Matte Storm Grey Metallic paint will be offered to just 27 cars.
So, the protest starts here. Where’s our bhp and blue paint Toyota?!
