The second-generation Lexus NX has landed in South Africa at a starting price of R860,000.
The new model features improved powertrains and a new multimedia platform that “opens the next chapter for the Lexus brand,” said the manufacturer.
At launch, two petrol NX specifications will be available, the EX and F Sport, while a trio of hybrid models will join the line-up later in 2022.
Orders for the hybrid versions are already open at Lexus dealerships, said the company.

The entry-level Lexus NX 250 EX offers high-end equipment such as safe exit assist, intersection turn assist, emergency steering assist, a blind-spot monitor, pedestrian and cyclist detection, parking support brake with obstacle and vehicle detection, active cruise control, and lane trace assist.
Furthermore, it brings along automatic LED headlights, 18-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, powered and heated front seats, and a 14-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and speech recognition.

The latter includes a model-specific grille, dark chrome finishes, and a unique leather interior in one of three colour combinations – F Sport Black, F Sport White, and F Sport Flare Red.
The synthetic leather interior of the cheaper EX can be optioned in Hazel, Black, or Rich Cream.

Providing drive in the NX 250 EX is a 2.5-litre, petrol engine generating 152kW and 243Nm.
This is good for a 0-100km/h sprint in 9.1 seconds, a top speed of 200km/h, and a combined fuel consumption of 7.1l/100km.
