The new Kia Sportage has been unveiled, with a sharp design and cutting-edge features.
“The exterior challenges design norms and moves the Sportage identity into the next generation, while paying homage to its rich heritage,” said the company.
“On the inside, a space has been created that is truly state-of-the-art, fusing high-tech features into contemporary style.”
New design
According to Kia, the Sportage is one of its first production vehicles that follow the “Opposites United” design philosophy.
The front assumes a memorable design with a detailed black “Tiger Nose” grille, and sleek LED headlights with daytime running lights.
“Such intricate and technical design complexity of the front facia is delicately balanced by the simplicity of the main surfaces at the front, including the pronounced bumper,” said Kia.
The side profile continues the sculpted look with angular lines and stylish wheels, and the rear features broad shoulders with “razor” taillights and a muscular bumper.
As with the exterior, the interior was designed with this new philosophy in mind, too.
A curved infotainment display with detailed aircon vents sits on the dash, and soft-touch materials with chrome embellishments give the cabin a premium atmosphere.
“The high-tech touchscreen pad along with the advanced integrated controller act as the nerve centre for driver and passenger connectivity, functionality, and usability needs,” said the company.
“The driver and front passenger seats combine high-tech with high comfort in sporting slim shell design.”
Furthermore, the company has designed a bolder model “to convey a more confident, vigorous, and versatile character” – called the X-Line.
The Sportage X-Line features an exclusive bumper, side sills, and a curved roof rack. Inside, customers have a choice between sage green or black seating, along with contrast quilting or black wood veneers.
Currently, there are no South African launch details confirmed for the new Kia Sportage.
