South Korean carmaker Hyundai has revealed details about the new-gen Verna’s styling by releasing a few design sketches of the upcoming sedan.
The new-gen 2023 Hyundai Verna will be launched on the 21st of March and the new sedan that is set to hit our streets is almost unrecognizable compared to its predecessors.
The design sketches reveal a car that looks more like the current Elantra that is sold in international markets but never made it into India due to our obsession with SUVs.
The sixth-gen Verna is very distinctive and one that most people will not be able to take their eyes off when it drives past them on the road. And the changes also bring the Verna in line with Hyundai’s bold design language that has made heads turn across the world.
At the front, the design sketches of the Verna reveal a full-width lightbar-style daytime running light. Lower down on the front bumper is where you’ll find the sleek headlights flanking the parametric grille design that has become a staple for Hyundai’s across the world.
The front bumper is quite a sporty unit and looks rather pointy and sharp. This gives the new-gen Vernas a rather sporty look which should make it a good alternative for those looking for something other than a Honda City.
The silhouette of the new-gen Verna looks stretched which makes the Veran look a bit longer than it actually is. Adding to the sporty nature of the new-gen Hyundai Verna are the sedan’s slightly bulging wheelarches which play host to some rather snazzy alloy wheels.
At the rear, the roof slides into the boot and what appears to be a small boot lip spoiler element. However, the biggest design highlight at the rear is the full-width connected LED taillights. The Hyundai badge sits on the boot with the Verna badge sitting atop the LED lightbar.
The new Hyundai Verna is expected to arrive on our roads with two engine options both of which displace 1.5-litres. Both engine options are petrol powerplants with the more powerful version sporting a turbocharger to help the new Verna develop more power to match its sporty design character.
Both engines will come mated with a 6-speed manual as standard. While the naturally aspirated engine is expected to be offered with a CVT automatic while the turbo-petrol model will sport a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Thoughts About The New-Gen Hyundai Verna’s Design
The 6th-gen Hyundai Verna’s design is extremely different from its predecessors but brings the sedan more in line with Hyundai’s bold new design philosophy. With the new turbo petrol engine under the bonnet, expect the new Verna to have the oomph to match its sporty looks.
