A new app promises to make the lives of motorists a lot easier by tracking all payments and fines related to a car in one place. Simply by entering a car’s registration number, app Caura will notify the user of any payments related to the car which are due, including road tax, tolls, insurance, MoT and congestion charge. The app even facilitates payments via Apple Pay.
The FCA-approved app sends user notifications when a payment is or service is due, and it can also be used for multiple vehicles, which could make life a lot simpler for fleet managers. Around 25% of MoTs in the UK are conducted late, which means up to eight million cars could be on the roads while in a dangerous condition.
Caura was founded by said Dr Sai Lakshm, who said: “The billions of pounds in penalty fees UK consumers incur from mistakes or late payments for parking, congestion charges, road tax, tolls, MOT and insurance are totally avoidable. The incumbent system – fragmented, confusing and outdated – is not only costly but a massive source of anxiety. By eliminating the need for dozens of apps and services, we are removing hassle, confusion and unnecessary expenses of car ownership.”
At the moment Caura is only available as a free download on iOS, but an Android version will arrive next year.
