Enhanced digital visibility and reduced production costs headline upgrade for Australia’s favourite EV
More details of the upcoming Tesla Model 3 facelift have come to light, and the changes for Australia’s top-selling electric vehicle look set to include a styling makeover, technology upgrade and interior trim tweaks.
None of these revelations are especially ground-breaking given disguised prototypes have been spotted on several occasions now, but we now at least have a better understanding of the technical and interior upgrades coming courtesy of Not a Tesla App and its anonymous sources within Tesla.
According to the website, the 2024 Tesla Model 3 will feature a trio of new cameras to help improve all-round visibility, including one mounted within the redesigned front bumper to help drivers see what’s immediately in front of them.

The other units will be mounted to the sides of the car to help occupants – and driver aids – see past or around obstacles like parked cars or buildings at oblique intersections.
Aligning with previous reports of cost-saving measures implemented as part of the update, it’s understood the new Model 3 will do away with its onboard ambient temperature sensor and instead rely on the sat-nav and connected services to determine outside temperature.
Revisions are also being made to the sat-nav’s GPS module to make it more accurate.

As for the interior, Not a Tesla App’s sources corroborate previous intel that the Model 3’s dashboard will comprise even fewer components in another cost-cutting move, however, the woodgrain trim is now also set to be replaced with some sort of fabric like Alcantara – as seen in the Model S and Model Y.
Previously published spy images suggest new front and rear bumpers are on the way for Australia’s best-selling EV and the nation’s most popular medium passenger vehicle, along with new headlights and rumoured tweaks to the wing mirrors in order to reduce drag.
Some form of powertrain upgrade is also said to be in the mix, but no further details have emerged yet.
