Finding a clean, unmolested example of a collectable car from yesteryear becomes more and more difficult as time goes by however Freeway Toyota has shared images of a mint Toyota Corolla RSi. Was this the perfect entry-level performance family sedan in the 90s?

This South African-only icon bears significance to the close of the 1990s when it came to fruition. With the homologation number sitting at 5 607 units, the 1,6-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated 4A-GE motor could sing up to the sweet tune of 8 000 r/min and deliver all of the twist and power to the front wheels. Despite the humble displacement, the motor was capable of 115 kW and 150 N.m and when CAR tested the model in the July 1997 issue, the team described it as “the ideal car for the enthusiast with a family.”
The 0-100 km/h sprint could be achieved in 7,71 seconds according to testing while it would top out at 207 km/h when new. According to the classifieds advert, this 1998 model has only collected a mere 73 000 km in its lifetime. For its age, the low-mileage model may be one of the best-kept examples available on the market to date with the exterior panels, interior fabric and trim looking as sharp as they would have when it left the showroom floor a quarter of a century ago/
