According to a new report, the Lucid Air Grand Touring tops the EV charts for offering the most range & highest charging speeds in the USA.
In a recent test, the Lucid Air GT achieved the most range during a 20-minute charging session, with 208 miles (321 km). This is said to be the highest charging metric among the 13 EVs analysed by the report. The $140,000 EV is also said to offer the highest EPA-estimated range of 516 miles (830 km) from its 112 kWh battery pack.
The Tesla Model S Plaid, priced at a little under $110,000 came second after it managed to add 193 miles (311 km) in 20 minutes. The Model S Plaid comes with a slightly smaller 95 kWh battery and has an EPA-estimated range of 396 miles (637 km).
Completing the top-3 is the relatively affordable Kia EV6. Priced at around $44,000, the EV6 Long Range RWD version managed to add 191 miles (307 km) after 20 minutes of charge, thanks to its 800-volt battery architecture. The Kia EV6 Long Range RWD variant comes with a 74 kWh battery pack with an EPA-estimated range of 310 miles (499 km). Reports also state that while the Lucid Air achieved the highest range after 20 minutes, the EV6 RWD managed a higher range during a 10-minute charge with 127 miles, compared to the 124 miles on the Lucid Air.
The Tesla Model 3 and Model Y came in fourth and fifth, respectively, with 169 miles and 161 miles added in 20 minutes of charging.
Also, apart from the top-5, the list also included the likes of the BMW iX, BMW i4, Ford Mustang Mach-e, Ford F-150 Lightning 4WD, Polestar 2, Porsche Taycan GTS, Rivian R1T and the VW ID.4. All vehicles in the test were pre-conditioned before charging.
