TOKYO: Lexus has released two more images of the fully electric RZ SUV ahead of its full reveal online on April 20.
Last December, it teased the RZ, which would be the third electric car that shares the new e-TNGA platform as the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra.
Expected to debut only as the RZ 450e, the electric SUV can be considered the luxury version of the bZ4X and Solterra.
At this point, the powertrain details is pure speculation. As a baseline, the bZ4X and Solterra produce 215hp, and it’s likely the RZ would be more powerful to set it further apart from the duo. Range is around 350km.
The front is unmistabkly a Lexus with its sharp-edged headlights but with a spindle grille that’s closed off because there’s no engine under the bonnet to cool.
The RZ features a full-length light bar in keeping with current Lexus design and has a ducktail spoiler for a sporty look.
It will also have dual charging ports above the front wheels like the Porsche Taycan for better charging flexibility.
Lexus already has the all-electric UX300e but it was based on the ICE version of the UX, which means compromises have to be made in terms of space, equipment and technology.
