Lexus announces the launch of its first all-electric vehicle. The Toyota BZ4X platform should be used for the RZ 450e crossover SUV. Lexus, a high-end Toyota affiliate, is also getting into the entirely electric vehicle industry, with a crossover SUV. It has already been given a name. The Lexus RZ 450e will be the model’s name. The first teaser photographs have also been released by the Japanese.
However, if you wander about a little in the Toyota universe, you’ll find the new Toyota BZ4X electric SUV, which is based on the Japanese E-TNGA platform. This also acts as a foundation for Subaru’s new Solterra. Both will be available in Germany starting in 2022. A third model, the Lexus RZ 450e, should be built on this platform. When it comes to styling, the Lexus RZ goes its own way while maintaining the Lexus aesthetic.
The Lexus RX is the basis for the RZ 450e.
The Lexus RZ should technically be based on the values of the two sister cars. The books have a 71.4 kWh battery, a range of up to 450 kilometers, and driving power of up to 160 kW. The Lexus has all-wheel drive, as evidenced by the Direct4 writing on the tailgate.
However, the luxury brand may benefit from a minor performance boost. It would be provided through the platform. The Japanese would simply need to combine the front engine’s 150 kW with the rear engine’s 80 kW. With 230 kW (about 312 PS), the RZ 450e would be on par with the RX 450h, which starts with 313 PS. And the terminology is already accurate.
With the recently unveiled RZ 450e, Lexus has entered the electric SUV market. The technology should come from the Toyota BZ4X and Subaru Solterra, which are sibling cars. Perhaps with more clout.
