The EV6 is Kia’s first battery-electric vehicle, and its 2023 GT trim will also be the most powerful production unit the brand’s turned out since it began building vehicles in the 1970s. In late October, the South Korean company released pricing for the 2023 EV6 GT, along with some stats and a photo. MSRP has been set at $74,495 here in Canada.
It rides on parent company Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform, and is motivated by a 77.4-kWh battery with a 160-kW front motor; and 270-kW rear motor, combining for a total of 576 horsepower and 545 lb-ft of torque. Put to full use in Drift Mode, the compact SUV will leap to 100 km/h from zero in 3.55 seconds.
First revealed in 2021 and then launched as a 2022 model year vehicle, all EV6 models get a multi-charging system that provides 800V DC fast-charging, which allows for 10-to-80-per-cent charging in 18 minutes.
More power isn’t the only way to tell the GT apart from its previously announced lower-level models. Design cues help, too, such as a more sporty front fascia and vertical fog lamps on the ‘digital Tiger Face grille’ up front, plus 21-inch wheels with neon-green calipers. Those neon-green accents continue inside across the dash and cabin, around the exclusive sport bucket seats.
Kia has also stiffened up the wheels, and fitted the GT with performance shocks, rear body reinforcement, and electronically controlled dampers for an elevated ride feel.

“The EV6 was quickly established as the halo for Kia’s new brand identity and the physical representation of the company’s future under its Plan S strategy,” says Elias El-Achhab, VP and COO of Kia Canada. “Now introducing the fastest production Kia ever, the EV6 GT demonstrates Kia’s continuous ability to shatter boundaries and expectations.”
Down at the entry level, the RWD Standard Range EV6 will start just a hair under $45,000, strategically priced to allow it to qualify for Canada’s federal EV rebate. For the AWD GT Line Pkg 2, the top trim of the non-GT model, Kia asks $61,995.
