From 1 June 2020 the UK will see a further lifting of the coronavirus pandemic measures. After months of being isolated at home and shops in mandatory shutdown to prevent the spread, more businesses will be able to reopen. Car showrooms will once again welcome customers, something Kia is prepared for.
While the government will allow car showrooms to reopen, it will not be business as usual. Strict hygiene measures and social distancing must be implemented in order to prevent any potential spread of the disease. Kia dealerships will feature screen guards, hand sanitiser stations, and additional signage in order to meet health requirements. Floor graphic will also help guide customers and aid with maintaining a safe 2 metre distance from other people.
Paul Philpott, President and CEO at Kia Motors UK, said: “It has certainly been a challenging few months, but we are delighted to be able to welcome customers back into Kia dealerships. I would like to thank our fantastic dealer network who have been working incredibly hard to get business back on track, as well as our superb team here at Kia UK.”
Kia, like many other car manufacturers, is being flexible when it comes to scheduled servicing of vehicles and warranties. People have not been able to get to dealerships under lockdown, but with service centres now open, a degree of normal service can return. Should a warranty issue arise, Kia will take the lockdown into account. Kia’s 7-year warranty across its entire range of vehicles remains industry leading.
Showrooms will reopen come 1 June, but dealership forecourts have been used for collection of new vehicles for a few weeks already. Some manufacturers that enable online ordering have been running a ‘click and collect’ style service for those eager to collect their new car.
