The upcoming Seltos will have the potential to become a Creta killer with some key features. Here’s what we can expect
As Hyundai is preparing to bring the Creta facelift to the Indian market, new details reveal Kia Motors will bring the Seltos facelift much and it will get substantial upgrades as well.
- Seltos facelift to arrive by the mid-2022
- Major updates could see revised styling and a panoramic sunroof
- No mechanical changes
Kia will introduce the all-new Carens to the Indian market later this month. But the Korean manufacturer also has plans to bring the new Seltos to the Indian market later this year as per AutoCar. The new Seltos will offer substantial upgrades.
Kia Seltos facelift to offer many new features
Out of all the updates that the Kia Seltos will get, the panoramic sunroof will be the biggest one. Why it is so significant?
The Kia Seltos is all-set to get a thorough update
The Indian market has started loving the panoramic sunroof and almost all the new vehicles like the XUV700, Creta, Harrier, Astor, Hector, and the Compass offer the panoramic sunroof
Kia does not offer the roof-wide sunroof with any of its cars in the Indian market yet. Even the all-new Carens will only come with a standard sunroof. The feature-conscious Indian customers may prefer other vehicles over the Seltos.
The new Seltos will get a new front-end design inspired by the Kia Sportage, sold overseas
Apart from the panoramic sunroof, the updated Seltos will also offer a slew of other updates. These will include a new look for the front-end. The new design of the Seltos is likely to be inspired by the new Kia Sportage, sold overseas. Kia will offer new alloy wheels and a tweaked rear-end design.
Interestingly, Hyundai will also bring the updated Creta to the Indian market this year
Kia can also offer the ADAS features to rival the MG Astor and upcoming Hyundai Creta. Kia will also update the cabin with new materials to keep it fresh in the market for the next few years.
Kia may stop selling diesel engines with Seltos
It will look similar on the side but will offer new alloy wheels
A report on The Korean Car Blog indicates that Kia may replace diesel with a petrol-hybrid engine option. In place of the diesel, Kia will use the same powertrain as found on the Niro. It gets a 1.6-litre petrol engine paired to a parallel-hybrid system. It produces a maximum power of 137 Bhp and 264 Nm.
Kia may discontinue the diesel engine as well
But the hybrid systems can cost a lot and we do not see it coming to the Indian market with the facelifted Seltos. In fact, Kia will not offer any mechanical changes with the updated Seltos for the Indian market.
The front-end will be all-new and very different from the current version
Kia powers the Seltos with three engine options 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Each engine option gets a different automatic transmission option while the manual transmission is standard with the engine options.
