Kia has announced US pricing for the 2022 EV6. The EV6 uses the Group’s E-GMP architecture made for pure electric models. When revealed last year, it represented a new era at Kia, which plans seven EVs on the platform of which the EV6 is the first.
US pricing for the 2022 EV6 will begin at $40,900 before the $7,500 federal tax credit with the 58 kWh battery pack. The Kia EV6 with the 77.4 kWh battery pack starts at $47,000 and will cost $39,500 after the federal tax credit. The EV6 is expected to arrive in US dealerships in the upcoming weeks. According to Kia, the EV6 will be sold in all 50 states.
The Kia EV6 is the company’s first electric car utilising the e-GMP platform that it shares with Hyundai’s Ioniq 5. The platform runs with 800V for ultra-fast charging. Buyers have a choice of multiple zero-emission powertrain configurations, including a long-range (77.4kWh) battery pack which Kia says is capable of travelling over 510 kilometres (316 miles) on a single charge.
Last month, the EPA gave the official range for the EV6 Long Range RWD with a 77.4 kWh battery as up to 310 miles. Compared to the smaller 57 kWh battery at 232 miles, that is a significant upgrade. In addition, it beat the expected mark of 300 miles. Finally, the Kia EV6 Long Range AWD, which features a 77.4 kWh battery and runs on two electric motors for all-wheel-drive, has an EPA range of 274 miles.
