Kia India recently rolled out their one millionth car, the all-new Kia Seltos, from their production facility in Anantapur in a celebratory fashion. This celebration also marks the beginning of production for the new Kia Seltos, which is a smarter and safer version compared to the previous model.
The new Seltos features a new design, 30+ safety features, level 2 ADAS with 17 features, a panoramic sunroof, and more. The Kia Seltos’ pre-bookings will begin from July 14th in India.
Tae-Jin Park, the Managing Director and CEO of Kia India, said, “This is a big moment for us, our employees, and our partners who have lived and supported our journey and helped us in making Kia an integral part of Indian consumer’s lives today. We are extremely grateful for their support and the love of our customers.”
Kia entered the Indian automobile market in 2019 when they launched the well-respected Seltos. In just under 4 years the Seltos made a strong name for itself, achieving the landmark of 500,000 sales.
Kia, in 2020, added the Carnival and Sonet to widen their lineup and seeing the success, they released the Carens and EV6 in 2022, further expanding their fleet of vehicles.
Mr. Park went on to say, “I feel that the future is bright for Kia India, and the new Seltos marks the beginning of an exhilarating chapter as we continue to drive towards automotive excellence in the Indian market. We will remain dedicated to driving innovation, pushing boundaries, and shaping the future of mobility in India.”
The Kia manufacturing plant in Anantapur has produced numerous units of Kia’s vehicles, such as 5,32,450 units of the Seltos, 3,32,450 units of the Sonet, 1,20,516 units of the Carens and 14,584 units of the Carnival.
Kia also unveiled their vision for the future, “Inspiring Mobility Solutions that enrich lives”, which focuses on providing a fresh experience to the new customers. With this, Kia aims to become ‘Kia 2.0’ by gaining 10% of market shares with new vehicles, customer focused ideas, and expanding from 300+ to 600+ salespoints.
Kia India has a goal to increase their organic growth and they feel the only way to do so is by creating a strong liking towards the brand amongst the newer-generation customers. To do this, Kia has started an impact movement through their CSR movement, named Project DROP (Develop Responsible Outlook for Plastic), and Uphaar – where they give fruit trees to needy farmers.
Project DROP is focused on imparting knowledge on the excess amount of plastic waste and how to restrict it from spreading across land and water bodies. Uphaar, on the other hand, is a tree planting program to provide extra support to the farming community and to tackle climate change.
Kia is also providing their employees with contacts and opportunities to help themselves and provide support for their physical and mental health through their ‘Lifestyle Management Program’ – a thoughtful act by Kia India!
Kia India is also providing assistance to the rural women by hosting development programs such as comprehensive skill developments and a livelihood enhancement program. Timbaktu Collective (an NGO), in association with Kia India, will help teach women how to gain financial independence in a 36-week long program.
Kia India has taken up other CSR initiatives such as auto service technician for local students, library block building for Penukonda Government Degree College, Plantation Drive in Subbarauni Palli, and Medical Equipment & Daycare Shelter for Primary Health Center (PHC), Guntur, Penukonda, along with others.
For this celebration, respected guests from the Andhra Pradesh Government were present such as the Hon’ble Minister for Finance, Planning and Legislative Affairs, Mr. Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Mr. Gorantla Madhav, and more.
Thoughts On Kia India’s Milestone & CSR Initiatives
Kia India is doing a great deed by taking into consideration the people who actually need financial support and aid of different types. They have put into action certain projects that aim to improve those people’s livelihood and teach them basic skills.
Also, with Kia India reaching the 1 million vehicles produced mark, shows us that Kia has no intention of slowing down or stopping. Now, with the launch of the new Seltos, we can only expect Kia to hit the next milestone even quicker.
