Customers can select from a variety of digital functions that enhance the EV9.
With the launch of the EV9, Kia has introduced its Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) technology that enables customers to purchase and install the in-car functions they need and want. These new features are available digitally through the Kia Connect Store. The all-electric SUV is the first vehicle from the Hyundai Motor Group to implement this function.
In terms of software update capability, the EV9 is by far the most sophisticated vehicle from the Korean manufacturer. Kia claims the halo EV can update the convenience and crucial vehicle functions, which is impressive. However, we've seen this with other brands, such as Tesla and its over-the-air updates. Kia notes that new features can be added without needing a separate connection to the vehicle.
An example of these available features includes Remote Smart Parking Assist 2. Owners can find this in the Kia Connect Store and use it to park their vehicles remotely.

Another available feature is the Lighting Pattern function. This offers five different display modes for the clusters of small cube lamps sited on the front fascia. Kia hopes to add extra luxuries to the Kia Connect Store in the future.
The Korean manufacturer says this gives customers more options and flexibility; essentially, they can tailor the car and its features to their tastes. Remember, not everyone purchases a new car, so it includes those who choose to rent, buy a used car, or even lease.
Thanks to the EV9's electrical/electronic architecture, the battery-powered SUV provides drivers with an array of sophisticated features. Highway Driving Pilot, which allows for “conditional Level 3” self-driving, is an example of this. We may see even more driver assists introduced in the coming years, allowing owners to upgrade their vehicles' safety, regardless of age.

The Hyundai Motor Group says it is committed to introducing the very best technologies to its vehicles. This will include entertainment features, including movies, games, and video conferencing. This has become a big trend in the automotive industry. Mercedes-Benz, for example, has introduced apps like TikTok in the new E-Class, along with a video conferencing function.
BMW has also partnered with the German Bundesliga to allow customers to watch European soccer content from the comfort of their vehicles.
Getting back to the EV9, the electric SUV should be perfect for the large and eco-conscious family that requires luxurious transportation. Sadly, we won't get the unique swivel seat option in America. The Software Defined Vehicle technology seen here will soon reach other vehicles within the Kia, Hyundai, and Genesis stables.
