The Kia Niro is all set to come out with a one-of-a-kind variant. Based on the first-gen Niro EV, earlier e-Niro, the new vehicle will be a purpose-built taxi variant of the Niro for the Korean market. It will sport a multitude of interior changes and alterations and will be called the Kia Niro Plus. The new variant will be the brand’s first purpose-built vehicle (PBV).
While the interior gets a revamp, the exterior remains pretty much the same. A major chunk of the attention has been given to improved safety and accessibility features. In order to increase interior space for passengers, Kia has made the Niro Plus 10mm longer and 80mm taller than the first-gen Niro EV.
The variant will focus on passenger and driver safety as well as convenience. It will get a driver-focused all-in-one display in an effort to reduce multiple screens and displays. It will be an all-inclusive screen where information like navigation, a digital tachograph, voice recognition, and a taxi meter app can be displayed. The Kia Niro Plus also comes with door reflectors and assist handles that improve safety and accessibility.
It will be first in the PBV for not only Kia but any brand in the auto sector. Kia hopes to unveil the SUV by 2025.
