Despite the recent entry into the Indian MPV segment, the Kia Carens quickly became a hot seller in the 7-seater segment in India. According to Kia Motors, the company sold 5,300 units of Kia Carens MPV in February 2022.
In addition to that, Kia Carens MPV has become extremely popular in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and we strongly believe that the aggressive introductory pricing enabled Kia Motors to penetrate into this market with relative ease.
Now, with the updated prices in effect, the Kia Carens range now starts from Rs 9.58 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and goes all the way up to Rs 17.69 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the top-end ‘Luxury Plus 7S’ variant equipped with the 1.5-litre diesel engine and 6-speed automatic transmission.

In addition to all these features, the Kia Carens also comes equipped with top-tier safety features such as 6-airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ABS, EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), vehicle stability control (VSC), BAS, ISOFIX Mounts, hill-hold assistance, All-Wheel Disc Brakes and a few more.
At present, Kia Carens comes with three engine options. These options include a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine with 113bhp of power and 144Nm of torque. The next engine option is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 138bhp of power and 242Nm of torque.
In addition to this, Kia Carens also comes with the third engine option which is a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine with 114bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. While the 6-speed manual transmission is offered as standard across all engine options in the Kia Carens MPV, the automatic transmissions are offered only in diesel engine and turbocharged petrol engine options.
However, the automatic transmission in the diesel engine is a smooth 6-speed torque converter unit, whereas the turbocharged petrol variant gets a quick-shifting 7-speed DCT gearbox.
Thoughts About Kia Carens Price Hike
Though Kia Motors has hiked the prices of Kia Carens by a significant margin, we do not expect to see customers shying away from booking this MPV as it packs a lot of features and comes with decent space and powertrain configurations. This makes the Kia Carens a highly recommendable choice for anyone looking for a 6/7 seater MPV in India.
