Kia recently launched the Kia Carens in India and the 7-seater MPV quickly became a sensation in the 7-seater segment in the country by racking up thousands of bookings.
Despite Kia’s plans to crank up the production capacity at its Anantapur facility, the waiting period for the Kia Carens now ranges anywhere between 13 to 49 weeks.
One of the reasons for the Kia Carens’ immense popularity could be credited to the MPV’s aggressive pricing. Speaking about the pricing, the Kia Carens range starts from Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and goes all the way up to Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
This pricing puts the Kia Carens rival with other 7-seater cars such as Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6, Mahindra Marazzo, Hyundai Alcazar and a few more.
As of now, almost 20,000 Kia Carens MPVs have been booked across the country and the booking amount for the MPV is set at Rs 25,000.

To further add convenience, the Kia Carens MPV also comes with ventilated seats at the front, a wireless charger, roof-mounted AC for 2nd and 3rd-row passengers, cooled cup holders, and sunshades for 2nd-row passengers.
Despite the aggressive pricing and long list of features, the Kia Carens comes with top-tier safety features such as 6-airbags, vehicle stability control (VSC), electronic stability program (ESP), BAS, hill-hold assistance, Highline TPMS, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX Mounts, All-Wheel Disc Brakes and a few more.
The Kia Carens comes with a choice of three engine options. The first engine option is a base petrol engine, which is a tried-and-tested 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine with 113bhp of peak power and 144Nm of peak torque. The next engine option is a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine with 114bhp of peak power and 250Nm of peak torque. This engine is most likely to be the most popular choice among Indian consumers.
The third engine option is the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 138bhp of peak power and 242Nm of peak torque. This engine is the sportiest of the lot and will appeal to lot of young buyers.
In terms of gearbox options, all engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. Whereas automatic transmissions are offered only in diesel engines and turbocharged petrol engines.
