When it comes to small family-sized crossovers, the Urban Cruiser from Toyota leads the pack, but how safe is it really? We find out
Safely Cruising
Toyota’s Urban Cruiser quickly became one of the Japanese brands’ best-selling models shortly after its introduction back in 2021. The compact family crossover benefited from all the space and features that a small yet growing family could need, and it came at a very appealing price.
Due to the Cruiser sharing its platform with the Suzuki Vitara Brezza, consumers would naturally be curious about the safety aspects of the vehicles with both machines emerging from Maruti Suzuki in India.
Generational safety
The first gen model received a 4-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests back in 2021 with the newly minted second gen receiving a 4-star rating by the Global NCAP as of 12 September 2023. This means that the Urban Cruiser is as safe a vehicle in this segment you will get, with driver and passenger airbags, Isofix, and vehicle assistance systems like ABS and TSC in play.
