The second-gen Lexus LM has debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show. The all-new 2023 Lexus LM luxury MPV is set to arrive in India later this year, where it will rival the likes of the Mercedes V-Class.
The 2nd-Generation Lexus LM MPV is offered in three seating configurations. While the conventional six and seven-seater models feature three rows of seats, the 4 seater version of the new LM takes the luxury MPV game to a whole new level.
The 4-seater 2023 Lexus LM sports a partition that separates the front and rear seats. The upper section of the partition is a window that can be raised and lowered and also features a dimming function.
The lower section of the partition houses a widescreen 48-inch display that Lexus claims can be used for video calls as well as entertainment purposes. Below the display owners can add storage spaces and a refrigerator.
Other features on this ultimate version of the new LM MPV from Lexus include a 23-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, luxurious leather-wrapped seats with heated headrests and ottomans with the latter extending even further than ever before.
The new LM suppresses sound even further to keep its occupants even more cocooned from the outside world. There are specific countermeasures for road noise around the wheels and tyres and wind noise around the bonnet and pillars.
Lexus has also tuned the engine and its related mounts to keep down the noise and vibration levels. The LM also sports acoustic glass to reduce high-frequency wind noise.
The new Lexus LM is quite a large vehicle. The 2023 LM measures 5,125mm long, 1,890mm wide, and 1,955mm tall and sports a 3,000mm long wheelbase. The MPV rides on either 19-inch or 17-inch wheels that are shod with 225/55R19 or 225/65R17 tyres respectively.
The new Lexus LM is offered with two hybrid powerplants. The base 350h model features a familiar 2.5-litre hybrid setup with 246bhp and 239Nm of torque on tap.
A more powerful 2.4-litre turbo petrol hybrid is set to arrive later in the year under the bonnet of the Lexus LM 500h variant. This version of the new LM is not expected to make it into India.
The design is as crazy as ever with the massive spindle body setup at the front, massive sliding rear doors, fancy alloys, LED headlights and full-length LED taillights at the rear.
