Hong Leong Yamaha Motor has announced two new colors for the 2026 Yamaha NMAX ABS. The NMAX model remains popular among Malaysian motorcycle buyers, and its sales continue to be encouraging despite stiff competition from comparable models from China. This is because the NMAX has been well-established over a long time, giving buyers confidence in the availability of spare parts and aftermarket accessories in the market, despite its relatively high price. We have had the opportunity to test ride every version of this motorcycle since its launch and believe it still packs a punch, especially with the engine combination it shares with the Yamaha NVX and Y16ZR, and the ABS-supported braking system. Key features The engine is a single-cylinder, 155 cc, SOHC, 4-valve, liquid-cooled unit with Blue Core technology, producing 15.2 hp (11.3 kW) at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 14.2 Nm at 6,500 rpm. However, the Malaysian market still does not receive the “Turbo” version with the Y-Shift feature. The transmission used is a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), with final drive via a belt. Moving on to the chassis, the front suspension consists of an updated pair of telescopic forks, while the rear is supported by a pair of shock absorbers. Braking duties are handled by a single 230mm disc, both front and rear. Dual-channel ABS is a standard feature. Electronic features include a large single LCD screen with the Y-Connect feature; a keyless ignition system, an idle stop function, a USB charging port, and LED lighting. The seat height is listed as 775mm. A larger under-seat storage compartment, now at 25 liters. The fuel tank has a capacity of 7.1 liters. Yamaha claims that this motorcycle has a wet weight of 131 kg. Photo gallery 2025 Yamaha NMAX Test & Review
