BMW Motorrad delivered more than 200,000 motorcycles globally again in 2025 despite a slowdown in motorcycle registrations. To be exact, the German giant sold 202,563 and broke through the 200,000-unit mark for the fourth consecutive year. However, it was not a record-breaking year as overall sales was down nearly 8,000 units compared to 210,408 in 2024. Even so, several markets posted record-breaking performances, including Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia, Portugal, Canada, the Netherlands, and Malaysia. The best month for BMW Motorrad was December, which saw 15,109 bikes sold, helping to end the year on a strong note. It the third-best December in the brand’s history. Markus Flasch, BMW Motorrad CEO said: “In a demanding market environment we played to our strengths and performed better than ever in many markets and segments. Outside Europe, the USA (14,869), Brazil (14,488) and China (10,555) made significant contributions to the overall total. Of course, BMW’s boxer-engined adventure models once again proved to be the most popular sellers, with the R 1300 GS Adventure topping the charts, closely followed by its smaller stablemate, the R 1300 GS with 32,555 units cleared. Meanwhile, the firm’s S 1000 RR, also proved popular, racking up 11,643 sales throughout 2025. “We owe this leading position to our commitment to technological leadership, a consistent strategic focus on brand strength and, not least, an attractive product offering. BMW Motorrad will continue to build on these success drivers, which is why I look to 2026 with great confidence.” Europe remained the brand’s strongest market, accounting for well over half of total registrations (118,814) – a slight increase year-on-year. Germany stayed BMW Motorrad’s single biggest market globally with 25,516 units sold, followed by France (19,019), Italy (16,692), and Spain (14,005).
