Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) celebrated its a milestone as it hands over the first batch of the all-electric IONIQ 5 to 11 buyers.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) has garnered overwhelming response globally, winning 6 trophies at the Auto Express New Car Awards 2021 in the United Kingdom, including the coveted ‘Car of the Year’ award.
Recently, 11 buyers were presented the keys to their IONIQ 5 at HSDM’s Ara Damansara showroom.
The IONIQ 5 is sold here in 3 variants i.e. Lite, Plus, and Max, with main differences in driving range, power output and trim, to suit different needs and budgets. The Lite and Plus variants are 2-Wheel Drive (2WD) with power sent to the rear axle, and come with a 58 kWh battery pack. The range-topping Max meanwhile, has All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and a larger 72.6 kWh battery pack. The driving range is claimed at 380 km for Lite and Plus variants, and 480 km for Max. Top speed is tagged at 185 km/h.
Additionally, there is a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature that can supply up to 3.6 kW to power external 240-volt appliances, as well as Hyundai’s SmartSense driving assistance features.
In addition to receiving their new vehicles, the first 11 IONIQ 5 customers were also given a complimentary 1-year membership with chargEV sponsored by Yinson GreenTech. chargEV is a provider of electric vehicle charging solutions in Malaysia and has over 400 charging stations nationwide.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 starts from RM199,888 (on-the-road without insurance – fully exempted from import and excise duties, sales tax as well as road tax as per Budget 2022). It has a 2-year (or 50,000 km) vehicle warranty while the battery pack is covered for 8 years (or 160,000 km). You can also opt to purchase extended warranty and service packages for RM10,000. This will upgrade the vehicle warranty to 5 years (100,000 km) and service maintenance to 3 years (50,000 km). The battery warranty will remain unchanged.
