A six seat Santa Fe with captain’s chair style arrangement released in South Korea could come to Australia in the New Year
Hyundai has pulled the covers off a six seat Santa Fe large SUV in Korea which will use a ‘captain’s chair’ layout in the second row.
Chasing Cars understands that the six-seat configuration might come to Australia as part of the MY22 update for the Santa Fe, following a mid-life facelift in late 2020.
The six seat arrangement trades the second-row bench seat for two individual armchairs, while the two rear seats in the third row form a bench style set up.
The six seat layout has captain style chairs for the second row
The Hyundai Santa Fe six-seater will compete with the likes of the six-seat LE grades of the Mazda CX-8 and CX-9 if it is released down under.
How will this differ from the current Santa Fe seating arrangement?
Currently, the Hyundai Santa Fe is available solely as a seven seater.
Two seats in the middle row makes it easier to get into the third row of seating
The seven seater features a traditional bench seat for the second and third rows, the third of which can be stowed away to create more luggage space – like many of the seven-seaters available on the market.
The six seater is likely to create a more spacious and comfortable experience for second and third row occupants – especially for the third row where it can become cramped for taller individuals.
The six seat arrangement is likely to come to Australia as part of the MY22 update
While it hasn’t officially been confirmed by Hyundai Australia, the six-seater version is very likely to land on our shores.
Available as an AUD$900 option in South Korea, it will likely be priced similarly if it comes to Australia.
