The new Sonata will be offered in four trim levels, starting at $26,999
Hyundai has just announced pricing for the all-new 2020 Sonata sedan. The stunningly styled four-door will cost more than the outgoing one, but it can be had with a massive amount of new equipment including the ability to move in or out of a parking spot using the key fob.
The new Sonata will be offered in four trim levels, starting from $26,999 for Sonata Preferred. That gets you a 2.5L four-cylinder making 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. This is a bit of a departure from the company’s previously-announced plans that would have given Canadians only the uplevel engine offering.
Typical of Hyundai, it comes loaded with standard features including a proximity key with push-button start, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It’s also loaded with active safety features including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic alerts, forward collision avoidance with both pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, auto high-beams, and even a driver attention warning system.
Sport at $31,299 is the first to add the new 1.6L turbo-four with Continuously Variable Valve Duration. That system can change how long the valves stay open, letting Hyundai better balance power and efficiency as needed. The engine produces 180 hp, 195 lb-ft of torque over a massive swath of its RPM range, and, like all other 2020 Sonatas, is backed by an eight-speed automatic. Sport trim gets special 18-inch alloys as well as LED taillights, a mesh front grille, and sport-look bumpers. It also adds a panoramic roof, auto-up/down for the front glass, dual-zone climate control, and faux leather and suede sports seats.
The $35,999 Luxury trim adds heat to the rear seats and ventilation upfront, as well as adding power adjustment for the front passenger. It also comes with an upgraded 12-speaker Bose audio system, surround-view camera, and auto-dimming mirror as well as a new instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch display.
For $38,599, Sonata Ultimate adds some seriously impressive features for this class. First is a 12.3-inch digital dashboard display, sitting alongside a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a head-up display. There’s also wireless device charging and 64-colour ambient lighting. But the real impressive features are the new Highway Driving Assist feature that adds the ability to automatically slow the car when you approach a tighter turn on a section of highway. It can also maintain speed, separation with traffic, and guide the Sonata to stay in-lane. There is also Remote Smart Parking Assist, which can let you move the car into or out of a parking space, in forward or reverse, using your key fob.
The 2020 Hyundai Sonata will be arriving at dealers soon.
