Hyundai has recently introduced the Exter, its entry-level SUV, in the Indian market. This exciting vehicle offers a perfect blend of stylish design, advanced technology, and impressive performance, all at an affordable price point.
Now, Hyundai has officially begun delivering the first batch of this five-seater SUV, ending the customers’ lengthy longing. Exter was launched on July 10 and is Hyundai’s most affordable and compact SUV offering.
Hyundai offers Exter in seven variants, with a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car measures 3,815mm in length and 1,710mm in width, with a ground clearance of 185mm and a boot space of 391-litre.
The all-new Exter houses a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 81.8bhp and 113.8Nm of torque. A less powerful CNG engine variant that produces 67.7bhp and 95.2Nm of torque is available.
The powertrain can be mated with a 5-speed manual or AMT transmission in the petrol variant. At the same time, the CNG model will only get a 5-speed manual gearbox. Hyundai claims an average of 19.4km/l for the petrol variant and 27.1km/kg for the CNG variant.
The SUV has a boxy design with styling elements that we’ve seen on the manufacturer’s latest cars and SUVs. Exter features a split headlight design and H-shaped DRLs. Similar to its DRL, the SUV has LED taillamps with the same H signature.
Inside, the car has a host of features, such as a free-standing 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 4.2-inch colour TFT digital cluster, automatic AC, paddle shifters, cooled glove box, sunroof, USB C charging, wireless phone charger, and a dash cam with dual cameras.
Regarding safety, The all-new Hyundai Exter has six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX anchors, rear parking sensors, and engine immobilizer, etc, as standard. Additionally, features like ESC, vehicle stability management, hill assist, and a rear parking camera, among others, are available depending on the variant.
Thoughts On The Hyundai Exter Delivery
Hyundai Exter is positioned against the likes of Tata’s Punch, which is the most popular compact SUV in India as of now. With the competition in mind, Hyundai has packed the Exter with many features for a reasonable price.
The quick commencement of deliveries also points out the carmaker’s master plan to dethrone and capture the segment from Tata and other small-time competitors. This gesture also reflects the brand’s commitment to the customers.
