Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has introduced the Ioniq 6 into the Malaysian market. It is the second model sold under the Ioniq sub-brand, which is geared towards selling electric cars, and the fourth model made using the Hyundai Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The Ioniq 6 made its debut in South Korea.
The streamlined Ioniq 6 design was influenced by Hyundai’s Prophecy Concept EV, which made its debut in March 2020 and, according to Hyundai, it has the lowest drag coefficient of 0.21. A large wheelbase of 2,950mm results from the stretched-out front and rear points. Other dimensions are:

It features auto-flush door handles, digital side mirrors, and all-around contrasting cladding. An Intelligent Front-lighting System (IFS) with Signature Parametric Pixel Front Matrix LED bulbs is present in front with active air flaps with intelligent aerodynamics and Hyundai’s new flat-type ‘H’ logo.
Customers can choose between a set of 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/55 R18 tyres or 20-inch alloy wheels with 245/40 R20 tyres.
The Ioniq 6 comes with five body colours:

In the cabin, you will get dual colour-selectable mood lighting for both first and second-row, speed-synchronised lighting, which modifies interior lighting according to the vehicle’s speed, interactive LED steering wheel and front-row relaxation seats.
In addition to that, there is a 12.3-inch full-touch audio video navigation telematics (AVNT) system, a 12.3-inch digital cluster and also included are wireless charging as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Ioniq 6 is the first Hyundai vehicle to include a control unit that can be updated over-the-air (OTA), providing drivers with even greater convenience at the touch of a button. This feature ensures that the customer’s automobile is always running the most recent software if they want. OTA updates come in two varieties:

- Vehicle software updates
The interior of the Ioniq 6 is similarly decorated with eco-friendly hues and materials. Depending on the trim level, these include bio TPO skin (dashboard), bio PET fabric (headliner), bio paint made from vegetable oils (doors), eco-process leather (seats), recycled PET fabric (seats), recycled fishing net carpet (a first for the Ioniq line-up brand), and bio PET fabric (seats).
It provides 401 litres of cargo space and the ‘frunk’ offers up to 45 litres of additional storage space for the RWD model and 14.5 litres for the AWD model.
Two options of drive motors and battery packs are available for the Ioniq 6. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) electric motor configurations can be paired with the long-range 77.4 kWh battery. This also enables them to travel an astonishing 614 km (RWD) and 519 km (AWD) according to the WLTP. The top-tier dual motor configuration is an AWD option with a combined power output of 320hp and 605Nm of torque. This power electric (PE) arrangement has a 5.1-second 0–100 km/h time.
With 18-inch tyres and the RWD motor option, the 53-kWh basic battery uses 13.9 kWh of energy per 100 km (WLTP combined). As a result, the Ioniq 6 is among the market’s most energy-efficient automobiles, according to Hyundai.
The E-GMP design of the Ioniq 6 supports 400-volt and 800-volt charging infrastructures, with 800-volt charging being the default; 400-volt charging may be supported without the use of any extra parts or adapters. With a 350 kW charger, it can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes and reach a range of 351 km in just 15 minutes.
Another feature is the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, which enables users to use the vehicle’s battery to run and charge any electric equipment, including electric scooters, bicycles, and camping gear. Up to 3.6 kW of electricity can be supplied through the V2L function.
The Ioniq 6 has a cutting-edge Intelligent Front-lighting System (IFS) with Matrix Beam LED headlights for the first time in a Hyundai model. This system automatically adjusts the lighting to the driving conditions. When a car is identified in front of you or on the other side of the road, IFS’s automatic high/low beam function partially dims your high beams so that you don’t distract other drivers.

Additionally, the Euro NCAP safety test gave it a maximum five-star safety rating.
The Ioniq 6 costs RM289,888 for the Max RWD model and RM319,888 for the Max AWD option, both of which have an eight-year/160,000km battery guarantee. The standard car warranty may be upgraded to five years/100,000km for an extra RM 10,000, and this comes with three years/50,000km of free maintenance. Additionally, upon delivery of their car, the first 30 owners will receive a complimentary one-year Shell Recharge Gold membership, enabling them to take advantage of favourable charging rates.
