Hyundai Motor India has already opened bookings for the upcoming Hyundai Exter SUV. Now, Hyundai has confirmed that the upcoming SUV will come with features such as an electric sunroof and an in-built dashcam.
This makes the Hyundai Exter, one of the most feature-loaded SUVs you can buy in India. On top of that, Hyundai has also given a lot of importance to passenger safety by offering 6 airbags on all variants along with 25 other safety features as well.
What is even more interesting is that Hyundai has given the option to add additional safety features in the lower-spec variants as well. This will allow customers to opt for lower-spec variants without having to compromise on safety tech.
Some of the safety features in the Hyundai Exter SUV include Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill-start assist, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX anchoring points, 3-point seat belts with reminder (all seats), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), reverse parking sensors and more.
According to Hyundai, the upcoming Exter SUV will be made available in 5 trim levels. Additionally, Hyundai India is expected to launch the Exter SUV with two engine options – Petrol and CNG (bi-fuel).
Speaking about the powertrain, both petrol and CNG (bi-fuel) variants of the Hyundai Exter SUV will be powered by the same 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated engine that powers the current lineup of products such as the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Aura, and more.
This 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine is tuned to produce 82bhp and 113.8Nm of torque in the above-listed outgoing models. Gearbox options are likely to include a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
This powertrain has also been recently updated to comply with the latest BS6 Phase 2 emission norms and it is also designed to run on the newer E20 fuel (20 per cent Ethanol, and 80 per cent petrol).
At present, the booking amount for the upcoming Hyundai Exter SUV has been capped at Rs 11,000. We expect Hyundai to price the Exter SUV in such a way that it undercuts the Tata Punch micro-SUV.
