Design & Colours
Despite its boxy styling, the new Exter SUV cannot be mistaken for anything other than a Hyundai as the model carries plenty of design cues from other Hyundai models. Some of the distinct design features include a split headlamp design, H-shaped LED DRLs, and a blacked-out front grille.
Apart from this, HMIL is offering the Exter SUV in 6 monotone and 3 dual-tone exterior colour options. Out of these colour options, Range Khaki and Cosmic Blue colour options are newly introduced shades.
Powertrain
The Hyundai Exter SUV comes with two engine options. The 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine produces 81.8bhp and 113.8Nm of torque. This engine can be specified with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT unit.
There is also a bi-fuel variant of this engine which can run on both petrol, and CNG. However, in CNG mode, this powertrain produces just 67.7bhp and 95.2Nm of peak torque. Moreover, this bi-fuel variant comes exclusively with the 5-speed manual transmission unit.
Fuel Efficiency
Hyundai has also revealed the fuel efficiency figures for the newly launched Exter SUV. According to Hyundai, the petrol variant of the Exter SUV equipped with manual transmission can deliver a fuel efficiency of 19.4km/l, whereas the AMT variant can deliver 19.2km/l.
Powertrain | Power | Torque | Mileage |
1.2L (Petrol) (5-speed Manual Transmission) | 81.8bhp | 113.8Nm | 19.4km/l |
1.2L (Petrol) (5-speed AMT) | 81.8bhp | 113.8Nm | 19.2km/l |
1.2L (Bi-Fuel) (5-speed Manual Transmission) (CNG-mode) | 67.7bhp | 95.2Nm | 27.1km/kg |
Though the above figures look impressive, it is nothing compared to the CNG variant of the SUV. Hyundai claims that the Exter CNG can deliver a mileage of 27.1km/kg of CNG.
Features
Hyundai is known to offer feature-packed cars, and the newly launched Hyundai Exter micro-SUV is no different. In fact, some of the segment-first features include a built-in Dashcam, shark fin antenna, footwell lighting, paddle shifters, wireless charging pad, onboard navigation, and more.
Other noticeable features include a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start, cooled glovebox, rear AC vents, electric sunroof and more.
Thoughts About The Hyundai Exter SUV
With the launch of the Hyundai Exter SUV, HMIL is looking forward to curbing the dominance of Tata Punch in the micro-SUV segment. Moreover, the launch of the CNG variant will help the South Korean automaker attract even more buyers.
