Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is all geared up to launch the new Hyundai Exter SUV tomorrow (July 10). HMIL already has high expectations for the Exter SUV and the model will directly compete against the likes of Tata Punch and Citroen C3.
To attract the attention of potential customers, HMIL also signed cricket icon Hardik Pandya as the brand ambassador for the Exter SUV. Moreover, the South Korean automaker has already commenced the booking for the Exter SUV in India.
Speaking about bookings, the booking amount for the upcoming Hyundai Exter SUV has been capped at Rs 11,000. Furthermore, this upcoming SUV from Hyundai will be available in 5 trim levels – EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect.
On top of these trim levels, Hyundai is also expected to launch the CNG variants of the Exter SUV to further boost its audience appeal and attract more customers. That being said, the upcoming Hyundai Exter SUV uses the same platform as the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios hatchback.
As a result, the Hyundai Exter SUV uses many components from the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios hatchback. In fact, the Exter SUV will be powered by the same 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine.
This engine in the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is tuned to produce 82bhp and 113.8Nm of torque. Moreover, gearbox options include a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. However, the CNG variant will come exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Some of the noticeable features of the Hyundai Exter SUV include an electric sunroof, an in-built dashcam with full-HD recording, multiple drive modes, smartphone connectivity, connected car tech, 25 standard safety features and more.
When launched, we expect Hyundai to price the Exter SUV aggressively with a starting price tag of around Rs 5.6 lakh (ex-showroom). This will ensure the upcoming micro-SUV undercuts its main competitors and this is likely to attract more customers as well.
Thoughts About The Upcoming Hyundai Exter SUV
With the launch of the Hyundai Exter SUV, we expect to see a slight dip in sales figures for the Tata Punch SUV in the coming months. This will help Hyundai further extend its lead over Tata Motors in the overall sales game.
