The automaker calls it Hyundai C A R E
Hyundai has just announced a temporary warranty extension plan that could help support any customers who are worried about their warranty running out while not being able to get service during the COVID crisis. In total, it covers more than 1.21 million Hyundais worldwide.
The automaker calls it Hyundai C A R E, which we’re sure stands for something but they didn’t say what. In Canada, the program applies to anyone with a 5-year Hyundai warranty that expires in March, April, or May. As long as you’ve had the car since before March 1st, owners may qualify to have their warranty extended until June 30th, 2020.
“We are looking for every chance to help our Hyundai family during these extraordinary times. We understand that many of them may currently not be able to visit us for vehicle servicing,” says Don Romano, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada. “With Hyundai C A R E, we want to give customers a sense of relief concerning their eligibility for warranty repairs and related services in the coming months.”
While vehicle repair and maintenance has been deemed essential in most of Canada, Hyundai recognizes that not all customers will be able to access their local dealer at this time. We recognize that they might be worried about that new noise they heard a couple of weeks ago, but don’t want to go out right now.
Hyundai says all of the warranty work must be done at a Hyundai dealer, and that the extension applies only to the five-year portion of Hyundai Canada’s warranty. If you have an extended warranty or certified pre-owned warranty, it will “be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.”
If you’re still worried about an issue with your vehicle that can’t be taken care of right now, Hyundai says to contact your local dealer. They can record the issue and your current mileage, and Hyundai says that “the repair will be completed when operations return to normal.”
The last few weeks of new-car warranty can be stressful enough when times are good, at least if you’re suddenly hearing every pebble in the road and thinking it’s a failed ball-joint like we do (ok, maybe we’re not that bad). So this can help ease at least some of your worries.
We’ve also just learned from Hyundai that in addition to being an H, their logo represents two people shaking hands. So they’ve revised it for COVID to show proper use of an elbow bump instead of a shake and to remind you to wash your hands.
Did you know that our logo represents two people shaking hands? We reimagined it since #socialdistancing is important for all of our safety.
