Korean car-maker readying advanced four-wheel steering for extreme off-roading for future electric cars
Next-gen models will also be able to rotate 180-degrees in the same position making safe U-turns in the tightest conditions.
Parallel parking will also be a cinch thanks to the tech’s 90-degree swivelling action that will see cars drive sideways into a space. The same tech will also have the usual conventional advantages of boosting agility at low speed and stability at highway velocities. According to the US patent, the tech will be controlled by an advanced ECU computer with the driver able to use a switch located on the gear shifter to unlock the four-steer’s more advanced functions. There’s no indication when Hyundai will roll out its new tech but the evidence of a similar system on the latest Hummer EV suggests it won’t be too far away.
