The tires I replaced to are exactly the same as the previous sets.
BHPian airguitar recently shared this with other enthusiasts.
Today I got my tires replaced at Trident, Mahadevapura for my Creta. On the invoice I see a weird, but serious looking comment that goes “The fitments below do not match HMIL’s standard and may cause safety issues or reduced performance, it is recommended you bring the vehicle back to it’s required standards” (not reproduced verbatim, but approximately). I checked with the SA and he showed it on all invoices that he had on the desk.
The tires I replaced to are exactly the same as the previous sets ( which is the exact same brand and spec that the stock Creta came in 2016).
Why would HMIL Insert this absurd comment when it makes no sense? Is there something more behind this?
Here’s what BHPian robby0707 had to say on the matter:
As far as I have understood, below that comment, HMIL will list out the fitments if any which fall in the said category. So if there is nothing in the list, that means your car does not have any aftermarket fitments that hyundai considers dangerous. They do this on all the service statements. I’ve seen it many times on the bills of my Tucson.
Here’s what BHPian sagarpadaki had to say on the matter:
Like robby0707 mentioned, that statement is to be read as a heading. Any aftermarket fitments done are listed under that statement. For example, I have aftermarket horn on my i20 and the same is listed under that statement in every bill.
Here’s what BHPian airguitar said:
Thanks robby0707. In this specific case, the tires and other ( in fact, the whole bill ) is listed under the above statement. Why would stock spec tires bought and fitted at an ASS be called non-standard or dangerous? This doesn’t really help distinguish b/w a truly dangerous aftermarket fitting v/s a “genuine” aftermarket fitting and therefore, not useful really to the end consumer to who this warning is purportedly meant for.
My worry is if this is some blanket legalese to protect themselves from any unfavourable eventualities?
