My 2-month-old SUV has a manufacturing defect & despite several attempts to contact customer service, I have received no meaningful response or assistance.

Summary of the Incident:
- Purchased a brand new Hyundai Alcazar D AT Signature (O) two months ago for a significant investment of 24 Lacs.
- On the 24th of June, while driving on the highway with my family, I received a “check urea system” warning message on the cluster display.
- Immediately contacted Hyundai’s customer care executive and RSA support for guidance and assistance.
- Discovered a wire lying on the road, indicating a manufacturing defect and lack of proper bottom covering.
- Contacted RSA and arranged for the car to be delivered to an authorized Hyundai service centre in Kanpur for inspection and repairs.
- Service manager confirmed a manufacturing defect but informed me that the required part is unavailable in India.
- Informed that it could take up to a month or even longer for the part to become available, leaving the car immobilized.
- Multiple attempts to contact Hyundai’s customer service and authorized service centres for updates and resolutions went unanswered.
- Lack of response and support from Hyundai despite the significant investment made and the inconvenience caused.
- The car is just 2 months old with only 4500 km driven, raising concerns about the quality and reliability of the vehicle.
- Frustration and disappointment with Hyundai’s negligence and disregard for customer satisfaction.

Satyam, It is really sad that you had to face this. It is clearly a case of a wire not secured properly and something on the road yanking on it. Given the fact that there are no other reports on team bhp for similar issues with Alcazar, it seems to be a one-off manufacturing defect. This can happen, no company achieves 100% defect-free implementation.
Having said that the company should be forthcoming in assisting you with a courtesy vehicle or reimbursing you for the cab for the days the car has been stationary due to their manufacturing defect.
- Please put this on other social media platforms, tag Hyundai higher-ups.
- Request them to provide you with a courtesy car or reimburse you for your travel.
- Ask them to provide you goodwill warranty for your troubles.
For the part not being available that is a surprise (supposedly there are locally designed and manufactured cars). I have heard about part unavailability stories for German cars but never knew Koreans also have similar problems.

Really sorry to hear about your ordeal. It’s never good to see a brand-new car in the workshop for long.
My message may not soothe your nerves. And questions on why my car would keep repeating. But some practical thoughts –
- Stuff happens to mechanical equipment like cars.
- Now that it has happened. Focus on getting it fixed. Alcazar is an excellent vehicle. I can vouch for it as I have driven close to 30000 kms in 1.3 years.
- Looks like the Authorized service center has acknowledged the problem, but parts are delayed. Continue to escalate to Hyundai, but make peace with yourself that it will take time.
- Ask the dealer for a loaner car until your issue is fixed. Asking nicely but sternly will help you get this. This will help if this is your only ride.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal.
“Check Urea system” warning mostly will come from DEF/Adblue/sensor. Considering that there’s evidence of snapped wire, I would be looking at the first code “U02A3” I have attached a few pictures. Have a look.
It looks like the wire connected to the particulate matter sensor is snapped.
Pls plug in the OBD scanner and check the codes it throws. Either yourself or at the workshop.
