Honda’s upcoming SUV is all set to make its debut in India on June 6. Codenamed 3US, Honda’s upcoming mid-size, 5-seater SUV is expected to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and other C-segment SUVs in the Indian four-wheeler market
This new upcoming Honda SUV has been spotted more than a few times testing in India with heavy camouflage and we expect this SUV to go on sale later this year.
Analysing the spied images of Honda’s upcoming SUV, the model features strong SUV design language comprising of an upright nose section and muscular wheel arches. We also expect this SUV to feature a lot of chrome and thick cladding all around.
Other than that, the upcoming Honda SUV is expected to come with LED headlights, LED fog lamps, new-gen Honda WR-V-like taillamps (Indonesia), an electric sunroof, and a large 10+ inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
In terms of size, the upcoming Honda SUV is likely to measure around 4.3 meters long, which is similar to what most other C-segment SUVs offer in India. However, we expect the Honda SUV to come with better interior packaging than its rivals.
Other than that, the upcoming Honda SUV is likely to be powered by the same 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder engine as the 5th generation Honda City sedan. That being said, we can also expect a Strong Hybrid variant of this SUV in the later stages.
At present, the 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, engine in the Honda City puts out 120bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. Moreover, gearbox options in the Japanese sedan include a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT gearbox.
Thoughts About Honda’s Upcoming SUV For The Indian Market
Honda’s lack of a proper SUV in the Indian market is clearly visible in its sales figures and we expect the launch of the upcoming C-segment SUV to help the Japanese automaker regain its sales momentum.
However, it is not easy to crack the C-segment SUV in India as customers can be quite demanding. Moreover, Honda has to price its product aggressively without sacrificing many features as well.
