Honda is gearing up to launch the latest example of the legendary Civic Type R. While the company is in the final stages of testing and evaluating this Civic, the folks in power took a camouflaged Civic Type R to the famed Nurburgring. With the summer reveal fast approaching, this is also an interesting way to keep the top-performing Civic in enthusiast minds.
Honda still hasn’t released much in the way of the Civic Type R’s performance numbers, and it’s hard to know what to expect. Considering the Honda Civic Si lost power in its generational jump, anything is possible. Though, we doubt the Civic Type R will stray too far from its 10th-generation’s 306 hp from a 2.0-liter inline-four.
What we can see from this video is more angles of the upcoming Type R. We can see that it looks more muscular than the standard 11th-generation Civic. It also looks more refined and mature than the more outlandish previous Type R. We can see how it handles the complicated conditions at the Nurburgring, even though Honda hasn’t posted a lap time.
Honda says we will see the Civic Type R this summer, which should answer all of our questions. Well, all of our questions but one: how it drives.
