Honda is on its way to reintroducing their iconic ‘CL’ range of motorcycles, which trace back to its roots in the 70s. Honda has filed a patent for the CL series in India, announcing its intention to bring this product line to the Indian market.
The Honda CL300 has already been launched in China, while the CL250 could be introduced soon. Honda has patented the 250-300cc range of CL bikes in India. The bike’s name has yet to be revealed in Honda’s patent.
After its debut in China, the Honda CL300 has made its mark, and now the company is preparing to introduce the CL250 soon. Honda has taken a step forward by patenting the 250-300cc CL motorcycle range in India.
Inspired by the legendary Honda Rebel, the CL range scramblers are expected to share common components such as engines, transmissions, and other mechanical elements. The only notable difference among the CL250, CL300, and CL500 models will be in their respective engines, with no significant visual differences between the bikes.
The Honda CL250 Scrambler will feature a 249cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a DOHC configuration, similar to the Honda Rebel 250 motorcycle. This engine is expected to produce 24bhp of power and 22.55 Nm of torque.
On the other hand, the CL300 is equipped with a 286cc engine that is similar to the one found in the Honda CBR300R motorcycle. This single-cylinder engine produces 26bhp of power and 27Nm of torque.
Honda expects to attract more customers by offering the an attractive Scrambler motorcycle design. The seat height is positioned at a convenient 790mm, and it features larger 19-inch front wheels. The braking system consists of single discs at the front and rear, accompanied by single-channel ABS.
A circular quad projector LED headlight, cylindrical tail light, and circular turn indicators will enhance its neo-retro appearance. It features a tear-drop fuel tank and is expected to offer similar color options as the CL300, including Candy Energy Orange, Pearl Cadet Grey, and Pearl Himalayas White.
CL250 will also have the same accessory lines as CL300; Cross Style and Tour Style. Cross Style accessories include knuckle guards, a headlight cowl, a front beak, and more. Tour Style accessories include a 38L top box, heated grips, accessory socket, saddle bags, and center tank pad.
The scramblers are expected to be launched by the end of 2023. Being a direct competitor to RE Hunter, the price range should also match to gain that competitive edge in the market. No official words are yet, and we’ll have to wait for the price announcement.
