Criminals are using the company’s details and names of employees in fake letters being sent to people.
Honda New Zealand has raised the alarm after discovering details of its business are being used in a scam making fake job offers to people in an effort to gain their banking details or private information.
The marque says it has recently been alerted to the activity made in the company’s name through various communication channels, which illegally uses the Honda name and logo.
“These fraudulent employment scams are created to access payments, personal information, and bank account details,” says Honda NZ in an online notice.
“Therefore the scammers take great care to appear legitimate in the following ways: The letters/documents, websites, and employment ads use the Honda name or logo.
“They include email or website addresses, which have the word Honda in them, use actual Honda address locations, and often have letters or documents signed (falsely) in the name of real Honda employees, or people pretending to be.”
Honda NZ adds anyone with concerns about the authenticity of a job offer from the company should email a copy of the correspondence to [email protected].
