Is Honda bringing it here? Well, given our conditions, Honda definitely should!
PT Astra Honda, the Japanese company’s Indonesian wing, has taken the wraps off the 2022 Genio scooter. The 110cc scooter has been part of Honda’s Indonesian lineup for a while now and has received a few nips and tucks for this model year, which make it ever-so-appealing, even from our market’s perspective.
2022 Honda Genio Design & Features
Check out this cute and retro alternative to the Activa 6G – the Honda Genio 110
Though it hails from a Japanese company, the Honda Genio looks quite European in its ways, courtesy of its smooth-looking design.
The only ‘non-European’ element here has to be the apron-mounted oval-ish headlight which is accompanied by high-set apron-mounted indicators. This looks quite unique but can be a little too unique for many people. Let us know what you think of it in the comments.
Along with all this, the Honda Genio also makes more power than the Activa. Swipe up to know its full details.
Moving on, the scooter also gets a brown seat and brown panels between the seat and the handle, but only if you opt for the matte blue colour option. Oh, and a few liveries get ‘Fabulous & Strolling’ stickers on the bodywork, probably to make the scooter stand out in the market.
Digital instrument cluster, USB port, multifunction key, remote seat unlock, and CBS all make it better than the Activa 6G
Next, we come to the features. The 2022 Honda Genio impresses here and ticks all the right boxes. USB charging, LED lights, a multifunction keyhole with remote seat opener, CBS, and a fully digital LCD instrument cluster are all present here, but the only shortfall is the 14-liter boot space which is around 4-litre less than the Indian Activa 6G. Other than this, all other features outperform the Activa.
2022 Honda Genio Engine & Underpinnings
The Genio looks quite European, courtesy of its flowing design language
Speaking of outperforming the Activa, the 2022 Honda Genio draws power from a 110cc, single-cylinder engine which sounds similar to the Activa 6G, but actually makes 9PS and 9.3Nm, 1.2PS and 0.5Nm more than India’s highest-selling scooter. Additionally, the Genio also boasts Honda’s Idling Start-Stop system (ISS), which should make it quite efficient.
The scooter is built around an underbone chassis and relies on telescopic forks and a monoshock for suspension duties. Meanwhile, the scooter rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels (2021 Genio had 14-inch ones) which are clamped by a single disc brake upfront and a drum brake at the rear.
Tipping the scale at 93kg (wet), the Honda Genio is quite feathery compared to the Indian Activa 6G which weighs 106kg. However, a reason for the Genio’s lower weight is its 4.2-litre fuel tank that’s 1.1-litre less than the Activa 6G.
2022 Honda Genio Price
Its headlight, though, is quite unique and well, can be hard to like for some
PT Astra Honda has priced the 2022 Genio at IDR 18,050,000 or roughly Rs 93,000. This is slightly more by Indian standards but that’s not something we should worry about, considering this is an Indonesia-only product.
Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a good commuter scooter in India, take a look at either the Suzuki Access 125 or the TVS Jupiter 125.
