Honda’s upcoming Hyundai Creta rival, the Honda Elevate SUV is all set to make its global debut on June 6. On top of that, the latest teaser images also reveal a few interesting details about the upcoming Honda SUV.
According to these latest teaser images, the upcoming Honda Elevate SUV will only feature a single-pane electric sunroof. In comparison, models such as Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder come with large panoramic sunroofs.
This puts the upcoming Honda Elevate at a slight disadvantage ahead of its debut itself. Also, considering Honda had plenty of time to develop its SUV by studying its main competitors, the absence of a panoramic sunroof seems like a cost-cutting measure.
However, it is worth mentioning that the Kia Seltos SUV is among the best-selling SUVs in the segment despite sporting a single-pane sunroof. As such, we expect some of the trademark advantages of Honda (refinement, and better interior packaging) to overcome this minor issue.
These teaser images also reveal that the upcoming Honda Elevate SUV to come with roof rails. However, we are not sure if this is part of the standard equipment on the upcoming SUV.
In terms of design, the teaser images and spied images suggest that the Honda Elevate SUV will sport a strong design language comprising of an upright nose section and muscular wheel arches to accentuate the ‘toughness’ of the model.
In addition to that, the upcoming Honda Elevate SUV is rumoured to sport a large 10+ inch touchscreen infotainment unit with connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
In terms of powertrain, we expect the upcoming Honda Elevate SUV to be powered by the same 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder engine that powers the 5th generation Honda City sedan in India. However, we do not expect the Strong Hybrid powertrain anytime soon.
This 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, engine in the 5th generation Honda City puts out 120bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. Moreover, gearbox options in the Honda City include a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT gearbox.
That being said, the Honda Elevate has already been spotted testing a few times in India with heavy camouflage and we expect this mid-size, 5-seater SUV from Honda to go on sale around the upcoming festive season.
Thoughts About Honda’s Upcoming SUV For The Indian Market
When launched, the Honda Elevate SUV will compete against the likes of other C-segment SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and more. As such, Honda must make sure the Elevate is not compromised in any way.
