Honda Malaysia has announced that its popular Honda Civic sedan has kept its top market position in Malaysia. As of April 2020, the Civic has a dominant market share of 70% in the C-segment (the updated Civic was launched in February). The updated Civic is available with the full suite of Honda SENSING safety technology (only for the 1.5 TC-P variant) and Honda LaneWatch (1.5 TC and 1.5 TC-P).
To-date, Honda has sold over 2,900 Civics, making it the company’s third best-selling model from its portfolio. As of June 2020, Honda Malaysia has received more than 6,500 bookings for the Civic which currently has a waiting period of about a month. White Orchid Pearl remains the crowd favorite exterior color for the Civic with 42% of buyers choosing it.
The Honda SENSING suite includes Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, Low Speed Follow, Automatic High Beam. Meanwhile, Honda LaneWatch is a camera-based feature that enhances the side view while reducing driving blind spot for safer changing of lanes, to give drivers greater peace of mind on the road.

The PENJANA initiative is part of the government’s economic recovery plan to support the automotive sector, with the provision of a sales tax exemption. “Honda Malaysia remains committed to support the Government’s initiative for the benefit of all Malaysians,” Mr. Ishiyama added.
All variants of the Civic are equipped with top class safety features such as Six Airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Agile Handle Assist (AHA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Auto Brake Hold (ABH), New Front Sensors and Rear Seat ISOFIX.
Meanwhile, the turbocharged variant has LED Headlights and LED Daytime Running Lights, LED Front Fog Lights, new Front & Rear bumper designs. The range-topping 1.5 TC-P variant adds new Black Paint Grille, new Trunk Spoiler as well as integrated with 18″ Black Alloy Wheels for a sportier styling. The 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged engine embodies Honda’s Fun-to-Drive element that offers dynamic performance and excellent fuel economy. Designed to provide the ‘Joy of Driving’ experience, the engine has an output of 173 PS and 220 Nm of torque, which is equivalent to a 2.4L engine.
Complementing the Civic’s dynamic design is its spacious interior and versatility. Designed to maximise cargo space, the new features include a 60:40 folding rear seat for added practicality. When folded, the rear seats add extra volume to the already spacious 519L boot.
