After making its global debut last year, Honda Cars Philippines brings in the all-new third-generation HR-V. The 2022 HR-V is the latest product to benefit from the Japanese carmaker’s human-centric design. Not only does it provide excellent performance and appealing aesthetics, but it’s designed to fully integrate with their customers’ lives.
The 2022 HR-V reflects a contemporary design dominated by horizontal lines to give it a more solid and planted stance. The standard LED headlights have been reduced to slits giving it a sleeker look, while the upright grille have been given two distinct treatments depending on the trim with the S CVT getting black bar inserts to the V Turbo CVT’s black mesh inserts. Moreover, the V Turbo CVT comes with a sport-type front bumper design with an “Amp Up” Easter Egg and two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the HR-V goes for the same minimalist treatment with the tailgate handle, rear camera, and license plate lights all integrated into one unit and positioned in a way to make it easier to open and load/unload bulky items.
Inside, the same horizontal design motif carries over. Honda’s “Man Maximum, Machine Minimum” design concept is in full display with the HR-V focusing on the reduction of driver movement during operation. The layout is also meant to increase available interior space as well as visibility. Both the S CVT and V Turbo CVT have an 8-inch touchscreen display audio system with six speakers, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a single-zone climate control with rear vents, and Honda’s impressive ULT rear seat. The V Turbo CVT ups that with leather seats, auto-dimming rear view mirrors, and a partial digital gauge cluster.
The standout feature of the 2022 HR-V though is its L-shaped air vents. Meant to address the shortcomings of traditional vent configurations, it has a unique diffuse mode that directs a stream of cool air along the side windows and front windshield to the roof creating a vortex beside and above the occupants.
The 2022 HR-V rides on the same platform as the all-new Honda Jazz/Fit, it has front MacPherson Struts and a rear Torsion Beam Axle. The S CVT runs on a normally-aspirated 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine with 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, while the V Turbo CVT has 177 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a CVT gearbox driving the front wheels.
Standard on all HR-V grades is Honda SENSING. Using a monocular wide-angle camera, the advanced driver assist technology bundles Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keep Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam, and Lead Car Departure Notification. This is on top of the standard four SRS airbag system, ABS with EBD, stability control with hill start assist, and a multi-view reverse camera.
The 2022 Honda HR-V comes in a total of four colors: Ignite Red, Premium Opal White Silver Pearl (V Turbo CVT only), Platinum White Pearl, and Meteoroid Gray. Both the Premium Opal White Silver Pearl and Platinum White Pearl command a P 20,000 premium over the standard colors. Pricing is set at P 1,250,000 for the HR-V S CVT Honda SENSING and P 1,598,000 for the HR-V V Turbo CVT Honda SENSING.
