Among all the premium car brands, Maserati holds the special significance of being a perfect equilibrium of sheer sportiness and elegance at the same time. All the cars offered by Maserati are perfect examples of how a high-performance sports car can look discerning too. Out of all the cars, the Maserati GranCabrio offered the added exclusiveness of open-top motoring with a roof that can fold down. A man from Jaipur, Rajasthan, has tried to instil all the virtues of a Maserati GranCabrio in a modified Honda Accord that is almost a decade old.
All the details of this Maserati GranCabrio look-a-like are described in a YouTube video from the channel “Jaipur Jeep Lovers”. For this uniquely modified car, the base car used is a Honda Accord which is almost ten years old. From the looks of it, this modified car looks nothing like an Accord but somehow seeks heavy inspiration from the GranCabrio.
Transformed into a Maserati
Starting with the design, this modified Honda Accord gets a front fascia with a rounded grille having vertical slats and Maserati logo in the middle and curved headlamps with projector bulbs. This entire front fascia looks very much like that of GranCabrio. However, one can note the rough edges around the headlamp. Just below the headlamps, you also get small rounded fog lamps, which are placed on the front bumper.
The modified Honda Accord gets underbody skirting below the front bumper and door panels. The side profile of the car has been heavily modified, with the car ditching the four-door layout of the original Accord for a two-door layout. The car gets special aftermarket five-spoke machined alloy wheels.
The retractable roof of the car is made of foldable vinyl, the shape of which looks a bit disproportionate here, thus looking a bit out of place. This entire vinyl roof folds down into the boot compartment of the car in a matter of a few seconds.
At the back too, this modified Accord has tail lamps, the design of which looks similar to that of the GranCabrio, but have more rounded edges and looks a bit swollen up in comparison. On the rear bumper, you get dual exhaust ports, which ooze out a grunty note, which is loud but not as original as that of the GranCabrio.
Cabin transformed as well
The interior of the car has been heavily transformed too, with the car getting a dual-tone black and beige work for the upholstery. Here, there are several rough edges around the AC vents, which make it look like a job half-done. The dashboard layout and steering wheel of this car look very similar to that of the GranCabrio, if not identical. However, the climate control buttons are borrowed from the Accord.
The centre console also has a large touchscreen infotainment system in the middle. The additional features of the car are a powered driver’s seat, configurable ambient lighting and Maserati badges on the headrests and steering wheel. The car is a two-door four-seater car, which gets a wide tunnel between the rear seats. While there are extensive changes to the exterior and interior of the car, the engine, as well as the CVT gearbox under the hood, continue to be the same.
