Toyota Motor Philippines is
officially opening the order books for the all-new 2022 Avanza on March 1
, just four months after its
global debut in Indonesia
. With that, we’re now getting more information about the entry-level 7-seater MPV heading to showrooms.
As confirmed in a previous press release, Toyota will be offering four grades for the all-new Avanza. Now, we know what these four variants are, and these are the:
1.3 J M/T
1.3 E M/T
1.3 E CVT
1.5 G CVT
As the model designations suggest, the 2022 Avanza will be made available in both 1.3- and 1.5-liter engine configurations. The 1.3-liter (2NR-FE) produces 97 horsepower and 122 Nm of torque, while the 1.5-liter (1NR-FE) puts out 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. The M/T uses a 5-speed gearbox, while the CVT, naturally, uses a Continuously Variable Transmission that replaces the old 4-speed box.
The power and torque figures are slightly up from the previous-generation Avanza, which is perfect given the all-new front-wheel drive MPV is much larger (205 mm longer, 70 mm wider, 5 mm taller) than before. The switch to a monocoque construction means that mass has gone up just five kilograms across the range despite the increased dimensions.
In terms of features, the E and G variants get a fin-type antenna, and power adjustable side mirrors with auto-retracting function. The G variant will also roll on 16-inch alloy wheels, while the E and J will make do with 15s.
In terms of colors, Toyota will have five shades available for the Avanza: Dark Red Mica Metallic, White, Silver Metallic, Black Metallic, and Greenish Gun Metal exclusive for the E and G variants.
As for pricing, it’s as follows:
1.3 J M/T – P 813,000
1.3 E M/T – P 928,000
1.3 E CVT – P 984,000
1.5 G CVT – P 1,039,000
