GMC is getting even more serious about getting midsize truck fans out into the great outdoors. The company has teased a photo of its Canyon pickup in AT4X trim, which will be the second of its trucks to come equipped with the off-road edition following the introduction of the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X.
The current-generation Canyon, which debuted in 2014, already comes in AT4 trim and with an off-road performance package. Its highlights include a one-inch suspension levelling kit, rocker panel protection, and front and mid skid plates.
The current model is available with either a 3.6L V6 gasoline engine or 2.8L four-cylinder Duramax diesel, and with cloth or leather upholstery.
In August 2021, GMC revealed its Canyon AT4 Concept truck, powered by the V6 and with a wider off-road chassis, cast-iron control arms, lift kit, heavy-duty bumper with winch, front and rear electronic locking differentials, 33-inch tires, and Multimatic DSSV (Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve) dampers.
In the Canyon AT4X teaser photo, the truck includes rocker protectors, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and AT4X badging. GMC said it will reveal the truck in the summer of 2022.
